National History Day,
Parent Update Letter

Students, National History Day is fast
approaching. For today’s Language Arts assignment, I would like you to write a
letter to your parents that will let them know our timeline before regionals on
March 13th. This will count as a weekly essay and will be due on
Thursday, December 17th.

| Include date and time for Regional competition at West
Valley Junior High.

| At this point, plan is to leave approximately 8:00
AM and leave West Valley around 4 PM. (Times have not been officially
released.) |
| Parents may come. If interested in volunteering
for the bus ride, please let Mr. Smith know as soon as possible. |
| Attendance at National History Day is
an Honors class expectation. |

| Remind your parents of your topic and how it relates
to this year’s theme. |
| Detail your plan for research between today and
January 7th. |
| Please be sure to mention that you will be writing a
five paragraph research essay in the first weeks of January. |
| Students will work on their projects during the last
half of January and February. Students will need to present both at our
Housel History Night on March 8th and at the regional event on
March 13th. |
